Sumo Cyco: online il video "Move Mountains" ft. Benji Webbe

E’ arrivato online il video ufficiale di “Move Mountains”, il nuovo singolo dei punk-metallers canadesi Sumo Cyco, realizzato insieme a Benji Webbe degli Skindred.

Il brano anticipa il nuovo attesissimo album “Opus Mar”, in uscita il prossimo 31 marzo e in pre-orders qui.

“Quando la tua band prende vita ispirata da un disco come ‘Babylon’ degli Skindred, ti sembra poi qualcosa di surreale poter collaborare su un tuo brano con Benji Webbe” – spiega la cantante e frontwoman Skye ‘Sever’ Sweetnam – Tutto prese forma nel 2015, durante un nostro UK tour che aveva come tappa finale il Galles. Sapevo che eravamo poco distanti da Newport città dove vive Benji, per questo motivo mi decisi a contattarlo per sapere se era disponibile a collaborare con noi per il video di ‘Move Mountains’. E qui la sorpresa: non solo ci invitò a girare il video nei Dub War Studios, ma ci offrì drink su drink per tutta la nottata nei pub del posto, facendoci vivere una serata pazzesca! Questo è stato il modo con cui ho avuto a che fare con uno dei miei cantanti preferiti – INCREDIBILE!”

Prodotto da Matt Drake (illScarlett) e James ‘LeRock’ Loughrey (Skindred, Joss Stone), “Opus Mar” fonde Hard-Rock assoli di chitarra, in-your-face blast beats e ritmi dancehall, il tutto reso interessante dall’elettrizzante performance vocale di Skye ‘Sever’ Sweetnam.

Per il nuovo album i Sumo Cyco hanno dato il via a una campagna crowdfounding raggiungendo il 249% rispetto all’obiettivo da loro prefissato sulla piattaforma PledgeMusic, grazie soprattutto al singolo “Anti-Anthem”.

Sever spiega: “Ho stalkerizzato su Facebook il produttore James ‘LeRock’ Loughrey, dopo aver ascoltato quanto da lui fatto nel singolo ‘Ninja’ degli Skindred. Lo invitai ad assistere al nostro primo show londinese nel 2014 e fortunatamente lo colpimmo parecchio visto che l’anno dopo eravamo nuovamente a Londra a registrare ‘Move Mountains’ nel suo studio”.

Ma le novità non finiscono qui, ad aprile infatti, la band sarà in Europa con gli (Hed) P.E., e si esibirà in ben due tappe italiane assolutamente da non perdere!
